Visit craft breweries, local distillers, area restaurants, hike to Indian sands, Kayak the Chetco river into the ocean, go ocean fishing and salmon fishing, party with the locals and picnic at Harris beach.

This special presentation finds us traveling up the Oregon Coast where we begin our adventure in Brookings, stop off in Florence and end in Depoe bay. We also take a ride on one of the Christmas ships near Portland and finally take a road trip to Desolation Wilderness in the Sierra Nevadas for a multi day backpacking trip to lake Aloha.

http://www.makaiohana.com We travel from the north coast to the Columbia river Gorge and end our trip in the Rogue Valley! In Seaside we stay at Surftides Resort right on the beach and take in the town in an epic weekend that includes blowing our own glass float at Jennifer Sears Glass Art Gallery and spend a good amount of time at Mist restaurant. Then it is off to Hood river to ride the Mount Hood Railroad on their murder mystery theater and spend the night at Hood River Resort, a Best Western hotel. Going south we take a tour of the Country House Inn properties in Grants Pass and Jacksonville and end our show back on the coast at Boiler Bay just north of Depot Bay.

Astoria and Seaside. We travel to the northern Oregon coast and stay at the Cannery Pier Hotel in Astoria built on a pier over the water. We take an afternoon cruise with Columbia River Eco Tours and view wildlife and a working marina. Our guest chef this week is Jason at the Bridgewater Bistro where he purchased a wild Chinook salmon from Northwest Wild Products down on the docks. The Cannery Pier Hotel provides Classic cars to take you around town and their driver Spencer gives us a tour of Astoria while taking us to dinner at Clemente's restaurant. We pop into Fort George Brewery for a pint, take a ride on the Astoria Trolley and check out the exotic meats at Northwest Wild Products. Then we go south to Warrenton and go zip lining at High Life Adventures, take a helicopter ride with Seaside Helicopters and visit Gearhart Golf Links while having lunch at McMenamins Sandtrap pub in the Gearhart hotel.

Special Products Edition. On this episode we feature specialty food products made in Oregon. We start at Cary's of Oregon in Grants Pass. Cary makes Toffee from an old family recipe. We then travel to Hood River and visit the tasting room of Naked Winery and meet the owners and wine maker and learn about their creative wines such as Foreplay Chardonnay. We travel back to southern Oregon and take a tour of Rogue Creamery which produces world famous cheese. Finally we end up on the southern Oregon coast and visit Honey Bear Campground which makes homemade sausage.

Southern Oregon. Get to know Laura Eades, owner and operator of the Paradise café in Port Orford and talk about the areas attractions. Hang out on the docks in Port Orford and meet live fishermen and find out where the fish go. Take a hike around Cape Blanco Lighthouse, the most westerly point in the continental United States. Tour Prehistoric Gardens a living rainforest with full size replicas of dinosaurs. Go inside the Oregon Vortex where everything is not what it seems. Go backpacking during the lowest tide of the year and explore sea caves that are normally underwater for a truly unique tidepooling experience. Explore the beautiful scenery of Gold Beach and visit the port before hiking to the bottom of Cape Sebastian for another overnight trip.

Rogue Valley. Go white water rafting on the upper Rogue river with Rogue Klamath river adventures. Then go flying through the trees on zip lines at Out n About Treesort in Takilma Oregon. Indulge yourself with a four course wine dinner at the Vine restaurant in Grants Pass. Jump on a Jet boat and view wildlifeon Hell gate with a lunch stop at the OK corral. And stay the night in Grants Pass on the Rogue river at the Lodge at Riverside.

Gold Beach. Take a tour of a Myrtlewood factory and see bowls turning. Watch Chef Rick Jackson from the Bridge restaurant prepare a wild Chinook salmon. Visit Paradise lodge on the Rogue river, a wilderness retreat with no roads. Take a tour of Gold Beach Books, the largest bookstore on the Oregon coast. Go Abalone diving and watch the Chef at spinners restaurant cook it up. Experience jet boat backpacking near Blossom bar and take a hike to Murial on the Rogue river.

Check out the new craze of Land Paddling with Norge Boards, the terra cotta answer to SUP and take a wild ride on the Bend Trolley visitng Deschuttes Brewing, Good Life Brewing and Country Catering. Explore the old western town of Shaniko and go rock climbing at Smith Rock.

Sisters Oregon. We visit central Oregon and the town of Sisters. While there we stayed at Five Pines Lodge and enjoyed eating and drinking at Three Creeks Brewing which is located on the same campus of the resort. We met Valori Wells at the Stitchin Post, a fabric store where she takes her art and designs custom fabric. We found a fascinating story at Cardio Thrift store, a non profit that raises funds for heart surgeries in developing countries. We went exploring the mountains with James Jaggard of Wanderlust tours and visited wizard falls while taking in the views of Sisters mountains and other parts of the cascades. We hiked through Fort Rock, an ancient Island and explored the three tallest waterfalls in Oregon, Multnomah, Silver creek and Watson Falls and finally stumbled upon the Oregon Trunk railroad bridge that spans the Crooked river Gorge.

Portland Oregon. Take a walking tour of distillery row in Portlands South east industrial district where craft distillers are changing the way people drink. Tour Stone Barn Brandy Works, House Spirits Distillery, Vinn Distilling, New Deal Distillery and Eastside Distilling and meet a local Pedi cab driver from PDX pedicab which just proves there are many ways to drink. Also meet Dr. Beverly Madison and Dr. Carlos Rosas of Natural Healing Arts speaking about how to be more active in your personal health. We end this episode high above Portland at Washington Park in the International Rose Test Garden.

Get snowed in at Skamania lodge and watch the Klickitat American Indians hoop net Salmon and follow the salmon to the Rivertap restaurant in Hood river where chef Pray prepares some of the freshest fish you will find anywhere.

On this episode Terri-Lynn Kalhagen pays a visit to Eastside Distilling on Portlands Distillery row to speak with Lenny, Mel and Kirsten about the various spirits they make and how each is made with a different process and ingredients. On the first Thursday of the month the galleries in Portland's Pearl district open their doors with featured artists, musicians and refreshments for the monthly gallery walk and Terri-Lynn takes it all in for a night out on the town before popping into Deschutes brewery to speak with brewmaster Ben Kehs about the art of craft beer. Our local artist feature this episode is film maker Destiny Lane and local music 'The Father' with a short film production titled Bitter Sweet. The show ends with scenes from a performance art event held at Ted's Berbatti Pan in Portland's Old Town called 'Fusion PDX' fusing music, art and dance.
